Ya so things have been okay lately.....but going home kinda stirred some stuff up...
I just read Julia's entry that was all about missing home and the stuff that we used to do. I do miss a lot of it. I miss the security of home and the people that I have known forever. I miss the comfort and the safety of everything - everything feels just so much more RIGHT back home. I mean, don't get me wrong, I do love the Rock, but there are just some things that are reserved for HOME.
I was at home for a week, chillin' w/ the fam and my friends that were in DSM. It was great to just be around my family and just feel relaxed and completely full on the inside.
I remember one moment when i just felt amazing - I was reclining in my mom's leather chair, and my 4 month old neice was asleep on my belly and I could smell her baby smell and my brother was lying on the floor playing with my 3 year old neice and she was giggling. my parents were in the kitchen making dinner and laughing about something, and my sister-in-law was talking on the phone to one of her friends and it was just amazing because everyone was happy and there was this feeling of just LIFE all around me. Like, we were all enjoying that moment, every single one of us and the house just felt warm and full of love and everything and it was just amazing.
I realized this break how important it is to just be happy as much as possible. Like, in high school dramatic stuff was "the thing". But I have realized that it is just a waste of time to spend time not being happy and trying to enjoy every moment.
I also realized this week that even though I still fail sometimes and I'm still not ready for the "real world", I'm a lot more prepared than I thought I was. I guess I just realized and learned a lot of things this weekend - funny how much a few days at home does for the soul.

We had a concert on campus last night and it was amazing! It was The Dog and Everything and Quiet Drive. The Dog and Everything was from Ohio I think and the lead singer had an amazing curly fro! Get this - the lead singer of Quiet Drive busted out an electric violin! It was fantastic!! I was standing up front and dancing right next to the speaker so I couldn't hear for a few hours but it was worth it!
I have to go get ready for class which sucks! Oh well, I only have one class on thursdays from
11 - 12:40, and hopefully since its the first day the prof will let us out early. cross my fingers!

So classes started out pretty good today. I didn't have class until noon so it wasn't so bad getting up lol. Except at 2 o'clock this morning, someone pulled the fire alarm! My roommate was yelling at me to get up, so I stumbled out of bed and threw on a coat and some shoes, but it was still cold as hell! That is like the 4th time someone has pulled the alarm this year and it is really getting old!! I didn't wake up for the first 3 lol, but we get charged $$ for every false alarm!!
Yesterday I bought Dazed and Confused and This is Spinal Tap from Best Buy. I'm stoked to watch them but I don't have a DVD player in my room so I'll have to watch them on my comp.
Anyway...I think I might start reading for one of my classes! :(

So on Saturday I head back to the Rock, fully prepared to take on what is sure to be a hell of a second semester. I have decided to enjoy my second semester a lot. I really enjoyed first semseter, but towards the end I was just eager to come home. I dunno what it was - I think it was just a funk I was going through.
Break was amazing - sorry to those that I didn't see. It's amazing how fast time at home goes by! Seriously - it feels like just yesterday that I came home from school, feeling all proud that I had just finished my first semseter at college, 5 hours away from home!
I am honestly surprised with how well I have handled being so far away. I knew I would be able to handle it, and yes I have had my difficulties, but I think I did pretty well.
Anyway - keep in touch all! I miss talking to so many of you! It feels good to get online and be able to connect w/ ppl back home!

OMG - I opened up my computer the other night and a ton of my stuff is gone! Just randomly a bunch of my pictures and music were erased! I am so mad! I was making my parents a movie of a bunch of pictures of my family from when I was a kid, but now the whole thing is gone! I HATE COMPUTERS SOMETIMES!!!! I cannot believe it! Plus, it deleted a bunch of my music which I downloaded off of Itunes, so now all of that is gone! I just wanna scream!!!! |

Okay, don't get me wrong - I love college. But I am so ready to come home for awhile. I thought when I left high school that most of the stupid drama would be gone, but I was wrong. I am just tired of people being fake. I can tell when people are being fake to me, and I don't like it. I need some reality! And I need people to stop being so dramatic! Seriously - I am surprised at how many people cause their own drama! All of this is combined with being stressed for finals. I know I am ranting and I apologize. You know when you are in those moods that you just want to scream or rant until you feel better? That's how I feel right now. And right now I feel a little better.
I have to say tho that I have met some cool people at college that I love to hang out with and that are really good friends. I think I am just tired and stressed right now. Man....I could use a massage. Like a nice spa massage. MMmmmmm that would be great.

Ok....I do want to apologize to my friends that I have not seen over break. I honestly do want to hang out with all of you, but sometimes it is hard when I am only home for a couple of days. When I came home this break, I basically just wanted to chill out, spend a lot of time with my family, finally meet my newborn neice, sleep, and enjoy some privacy. I understand that some people are upset that I did not see them this break, but I wish that people would try to understand where I am coming from before spouting off about it and getting all upset. Do not take anything personal; if I don't get to see you it's not because I am avoiding you.
Anyway, I will be home in a few weeks for winter break, so hopefully I will see everybody then!! |

Hey guys! I haven't posted in awhile, so I thought I would catch ya'all up on what is happening in the life o' Wisa!
Everything is going fantastic at college. Me and my roommate get along really well, and I've made a lot of friends here so far. I have a couple of crushes too! One has a girlfriend, tho, so that sucks!! There is this other guy that I like, but it is creepy because occasionally he will remind me of my brother and it just keeps grossing me out, so I dunno if that is gonna happen, even tho he is a really good guy and I like to hang with him.
I will be coming home the 7th through the 11th of October and I expect to see EVERYBODY that is in town that weekend! (and everyone who is still there!) I miss everyone and I can't wait to see you all!!
Classes are good, but there is a lot of reading. Trust me, everybody who is still in high school, you actually have to do the reading in college! It sucks and I hate to admit that my old teachers were right, but they were and it sucks, but you have to do it!! It's really not so bad after awhile, tho.
Anyway....I will ttyl and hopefully see you when I get home!!

I've been here for a week, but it feels like sooo much longer than that! I feel like I've been here for, like, a month!
We had this thing called "The Plunge" today. The entire freshman class went around Rockford and did community service projects. It was fun, but I was so tired because I didn't get to bed until 3 this morning because of the foam party that we had last night! It was a blast, tho; definately a fun experience. There were drunk people everywhere! This guy came wandering down our hall after the party ended, holding a cup of some kind of alcohol obviously, and was just like "I have no idea where I am going.....". Me and my roommate started cracking up. Then this guy that we know thats on the football team was walking around mooning everybody. It was fun!
I agree with you Megan! I don't want to change either! But it is hard because I still don't feel like I'm being myself here yet. Like, I'm still not comfortable here, so I'm not 100% myself, ya know? But I do believe that if I could just relax and be myself, everything would be okay. I just don't like not feeling like myself.
My roommate is gone today; she went back home. I got back from the soup kitchen today, and I started to study, but I fell asleep while I was reading Plato, and I just woke up! LOL! I got, like, a 2 1/2 hour nap! It felt good, tho, cuz I was up so late last night! It kind of feels good to just have some alone time, tho. Like, I'm the type of person that needs some time alone to myself sometimes so that I can keep my sanity and sort through my thoughts. So I think I am going to just hang out here, and probably go visit some of the people on my floor tonight.
Anyway...I'm gonna go and see if I can get all my homework done!

Hey all!
I had my first classes of college today!!
I had Poli Sci, Academic Writing, and Modern American History today. The classes actually were not even that bad, even tho they were boring because all my professors did was go over their sylabii and crap. I have some really cute fellas in my classes, tho, so I'm excited!!
Right now, we have a war going on with some guys upstairs cuz they keep drawing weiners on our message board, so we put ::ahem:: "feminine products" on their doors. Then they duct taped our door! So we went to Wal-Mart and bought some leopard-print thongs and we are going to tack them onto the boy's floor bulletin board!
Haha!

| Second Day @ Rockford! |

Wow....what an interesting couple of days! I am sitting here writing this after going to an ice cream social at our president's house. It was okay, but we didn't stay very long.
Yesterday was tough. We moved in, then we went around and ran errands and such. I thought I was going to lose it, though, when my parents left. It just kind of hit me that I am here all alone without anybody that I know. I feel alright as long as I am talking to people and doing something. Like, this afternoon was cool cuz we had an inspirational speaker and that actually helped. Like, he was talking about how we all have something in common, and no matter what, somebody else has probably been through the same stuff that you have. He said that instead of going through college w/ blinders on, and not getting into everything, you should just go around and treat everyone like an old friend. We are all alike, so you shouldn't be afraid to talk to someone.
That is such good advice, but it is also hard to put into action when you are 5 hours away from anyone that you know, and I am feeling self-conscious because I just don't feel comfortable here quite yet.
I also wanna say sorry to everybody that I didn't get to hang out with before I left. It was a hectic summer and I didn't get to spend nearly enough time with everybody that I wanted to. Love you guys always!!
Anyway...still two more days of orientation. It is actually not as bad as I thought that it would be. I am kind of anxious for classes to start, though, because I think that it will make it easier to get comfortable, and easier to meet new people and get to know them better.
I'm gonna go now, so let me just say that I hope everything is awesome back in D-town, and I wish everybody good luck with the new school year! Have fun everybody!!
